YouTube's Logo Refinement
Perhaps you've heard the joke "What's the first question the designer asks when she starts a project?" ... "Can I change the logo?"
When I started at YouTube, I was itching to bring the logo's visual treatment into the modern era. As part of the overall visual design improvements to YouTube's site, I got my chance! I was also able to push for the secondary branded element, which I coined "The Lozenge." Before YouTube could truly be a cross-device digital service, the company needed a way to present itself in the small stamp of real estate allotted on mobile & tablet.
